Hey friends,
Let’s be real, this soap thing? It wouldn’t be possible without my girls. My herd of Mini Nubians is the heartbeat of my mornings, the reason I’ve got creamy goat milk in my fridge, soaps, and honestly, a daily source of laughter (and sometimes chaos). So today, I want to introduce you to the real gang behind Redhead ’N Mudboots.
The Dairy Girls
These are the ladies who show up for milking every morning, and keep me humble every evening.
- Rosie: My sweet girl… with a flair for the dramatic. Mornings, she’s calm and cooperative, like a dream. Evenings? She’s screaming like the world is ending and we’re late to something important. But I love her quirks, she keeps things lively.
- Cornflakes: Don’t let the name fool you, she’s my sassy drama queen. If she finishes her grain before I’m done milking, she’ll stomp in protest every single time. She’s got opinions, and she’s not afraid to show them.
- Blondie: Quiet and gentle with a shy streak. She’s not skittish, just soft-spoken. She’s a joy to milk and has the most soulful eyes. She is also Cornflake’s daughter from last year!
- Milky: Oh Milky. She didn’t have babies this year, so she’s on “vacation,” but next year? I’ve got high hopes! She’s spunky, sassy, and the queen of climbing on whatever she shouldn’t. I’m so excited to see her on the milk stand next season. Fingers crossed she gets bred this fall!
- Cassie: Cassie is a lovely doe who will be be heading back to her previous home soon, but she’s still part of our barnyard snapshots and deserves her little introduction too, especially since she’s Rosie’s mom.
The 2025 Babies
This year’s kids have brought more personality than I bargained for, and I wouldn’t trade them for anything.
- Dilly: My only little girl this year! She’s already proving to be bold and clever, always the first to try something new (or get into trouble). She is Blondie’s daughter.
- Festus, Eli & Joe: This trio is fiercely independent and perfectly happy doing their own thing. They’ve got a strong sense of “don’t touch me,” which honestly suits me just fine. They’re full of personality, just not the snuggly kind, and I respect that. The goofy bros are Cornflakes boys from this year and Joe’s mom is Rosie.
The Boys and Buddies
Behind every batch of adorable babies is a hardworking buck (and some hilarious goat bromance).
- Lightning: This year’s proud papa. Flashy, confident, and just enough attitude to match his name.
- Hamilton (Hammy): Sweet and bashful, Hammy’s perfectly content letting Lightning take the lead. He keeps to himself, doesn’t cause a fuss.
- Bruno: My wether from last year. He’s gentle, laid-back, and plays the role of “goat uncle” like a champ. He is also Cornflakes son and Blondie’s littermate!
Why I Love This Life
These goats aren’t just livestock…. They’re my coworkers, my companions, and the reason my soap is extra special. When I talk about “farm fresh,” I mean fresh. These girls are right out the back door, living their best lives on pasture, and giving me the best milk I could ask for.
Every bar of goat milk soap I make is like a little love letter from this herd. And whether you’re lathering up in the city or right here in the mountains, you’re taking home a little piece of life on the farm.

Want to Follow the Herd?
If you love goats, real farm life, and small-batch, handmade goodness, come hang out with me online! Follow @RedheadNMudboots on Instagram and/or Facebook to meet the herd, see behind-the-scenes soap making, and catch all the daily chaos (and cuteness). I also have a page dedicated just to my goats on my blog! It might be a bit boring to non goat people, and I do need to get some good pictures on there but it’s there none the less.
Drop a comment below and tell me, do you have a favorite goat name from the bunch? Or just want to say hi? I’d love to hear from you!
Until next time,
