Well… hi again, friends. It’s been a good minute since I’ve shared anything here. I promise I didn’t disappear on purpose, life just kind of picked me up by the shoulders this fall and said, “Hang on tight!”
And just a heads-up before we dive in: this isn’t like any of my usual posts, more of a quick highlight reel with only a few pictures to catch you up until I can sit down and write something deeper. But goodness, there’s been a lot to catch up on!
The biggest news? We got a house! After years of dreaming and searching, we finally found the one, and at the end of October we moved it onto our property. But whew… getting ready for that took just about every ounce of energy October had to offer. Site prep, decisions, last-minute changes, all the “oh wait, we have to do that too?” tasks… it was a full-time job on its own. And me being me, I always thought we were done when we weren’t quite even there yet… Yeah… Anyhoo.
And as if that wasn’t enough excitement, I managed to add a little drama to the mix. I was pulling brand-new gallon milk jars out of the dishwasher when one slipped and smacked right into another while it was in my hand… In short, glass won, my hand lost. One ER visit and eight stitches later, I had myself on a forced break from morning milking. Thank goodness Collin had already been stepping in to help after my back had gone out a week earlier. (which I was JUST getting back to normal over…) He ended up taking over for that first week after my accident until I could safely get my hand back near the milk machine, and clean up of said machine, again. Let’s just say… I’m very grateful for modern milking equipment right now. Couldn’t have taken up milking again so soon if I had to milk by hand… Thankfully I had dried all my milk goats off for the season about 3 weeks prior to this. Phew! (Warning! Picture of stitches in my hand at bottom of post in the picture gallery!)
Meanwhile, the animals have been stepping into winter mode like champs. The goats are all puffed up in their fluffy coats, looking like round little marshmallows. And Bessie, sweet girl, is thriving now that she’s moved down to the big barn at the Bed and Breakfast. I can milk her inside the barn every morning, which feels like a gift on these frosty, nose-tingling mornings.
So yes… it’s been busy, chaotic, a little painful, and honestly pretty wonderful around here as of late. Life on the farm rarely slows down, but even in the crazy moments, I’m reminded how good God is and how grateful I am to be living this life.
If you’ve been waiting patiently for updates, thank you. More stories are definitely coming now that my hand is healed, the house is here, and winter has settled in.
Until next time, keep warm out there my friends,

Loved the updates and the photos. Would love to see your new house!
