This past month has been a whirlwind of activity around the farm as canning season is officially in full swing! Last 2 weeks, we dove into one of my favorite canning projects: applesauce.
One of the highlights of this process is the amazing strainer device that Marsha has. It makes applesauce-making a breeze! We don’t have to peel or core the apples—just quarter them, cook until they’re softened, and let the strainer do the rest. This handy tool turns our apples into smooth, delicious sauce with minimal fuss.
Applesauce holds a special place in my heart, and it’s Collin’s absolute favorite treat. Given how much he loves it, Marsha makes sure to stock up. Out of the 14 or so grocery bags full of apples we started with, we managed to can 7-8 batches of applesauce, with each batch yielding seven jars.
There’s something incredibly satisfying about filling those jars and knowing we’ll have a stash of homemade applesauce to enjoy all year long. Here’s to a fruitful canning season and many more delicious batches ahead!
